New treatment upcoming for Prostate Cancer?

There are new clinical advancements are happening daily by scientific research groups all over the world. Making new advancements for the diseases which are progressing by the day is the call of time. There are many diseases for which no proper cure has been discovered yet but thankfully few advancements have been made in life threatening diseases.

One such advancement scientist recently came up with is for metastatic prostate cancer. A new therapy got approved by FDA for treating advanced prostate cancer, where it is no longer confined to prostate and is spreading to other parts of the body. A drug delivered by intravenous infusion, the mode of action works like the drug can seek out and destroy tumors that are still too small to see with conventional types of medical imaging.

The drug is approved specifically for men who have already been treated with other anticancer therapies, including chemotherapy and hormonal therapies that block the tumor-promoting hormone testosterone. The drug contains two parts: first part binds to a protein on prostate cancer cell surfaces called PSMA, and the other part is a radioactive particle that kills the cancer cells. This allows the drug to attack tumors while sparing healthy tissues as most normal healthy cells do not contain PSMA or  are at very low levels.

This new treatment would be important for people who have tried several options with less outcome and are looking for something better to improve the condition.
